WILD BOAR CHALLENGE

FAQs

What is the Wild Boar Challenge?
The Wild Boar Challenge is an off road, obstacle course run through the hills, creeks and man-made challenges at Wildwood Hills Ranch just outside of St. Charles, IA.
Who is behind the Wild Boar Challenge?
A local breakfast club that has been around for over 25 years, the Contributors Breakfast Club, has teamed up with the Wildwood Hills Ranch and Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping to create the Wild Boar Challenge. The concept is to create a high quality, fun challenge run experience created by Iowa people to support local charitable organizations.
Who benefits from the proceeds of the Wild Boar Challenge?
The challenge is organized by the Contributors Breakfast Club, a Des Moines based group that has been raising money for Iowa charities for over 25 years. The primary beneficiary of the race proceeds is the Wildwood Hills Ranch. The remainder of the proceeds are committed to the CBC Foundation, a donor advised fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines, that provides annual giving to a number of Iowa charitable organizations (primarily those devoted to helping children and young people who are disadvantaged). Some of the other charitable organizations supported by the CBC Foundation are; Freedom for Youth Ministries, Youth Emergency Services Shelter, Fellowship for Christian Athletes and many more.
Will I get wet / dirty / muddy?
Probably, yes and yes. The Wild Boar Challenge course is designed in partnership with the folks at Farrell’s eXtreme Bodyshaping so you can imagine it might present a bit of a challenge.
Do I have to pay for parking?
No. Unlike some other challenge races, we don’t charge to park your car. There should be ample parking available on site. Of course we encourage you to carpool with your friends and make a day of it!
What can I expect on race day?
Each participant will receive a cool Wild Boar Challenge t-shirt, complimentary beverages (you must be 21 or over to enjoy a cold beer after), a challenging, fun run through the hilly Wildwood Hills Ranch and a fun party atmosphere afterwards. We’ll have lots of food, drink, and entertainment following the race.
What about the obstacles?
The obstacles will definitely be a test of stamina and strength. There will be hay bales, water hazards, mud and barbed wire. You will be subjected to a light electric shock via an electric fence at the Pig Prod.
When should I arrive?
The race is scheduled to start at 9:00 am. We ask that all participants arrive by 8:00 am in order to get things started on time. We will have a limited packet pickup that morning starting at 8:00 am.
Will race participants be sent out in waves?
Yes. Depending on our numbers, we may send participants out in 5-10 minute waves. Since the race is chip timed at start and finish, it will make no difference on your race time.
